Carcinoma larynx with thyroid gland metastasis: a rare case report

چکیده

Thyroid gland (TG) metastasis by laryngeal cancer is uncommon. However, now a days following concept of ‘organ preservation’, so ipsilateral hemithyroidectomy not required in every case with total laryngectomy (TL) for cancer. Studies T3 and T4 having, anterior commissure involvement, transglottic growth or subglottic extension indicates thyroidectomy the majority cases. Hemithyroidectomies are linked to hypothyroidism 23–63% cases hypoparathyroidism 25–52% There no recognized link between tumour differentiation TG involvement. According reports, prognosis involvement poor. The determines whether spread contiguous noncontiguous. Contiguous more likely well-differentiated carcinomas, while non-contiguous poorly moderately differentiated carcinomas. Anatomically, direct invasion only possible through extralaryngeal soft tissue, which includes cricothyroid cricopharyngeus muscles. Non-contiguous lymphovascular necessarily, but seen 87-91% over 10 mm, as our also.

Bilateral Orbital Metastasis of Follicular Thyroid Carcinoma: a Rare Case Report
Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) is the second most common type of thyroid cancer after papillary carcinoma. It usually grows slowly and is clinically indolent; but rarely, its aggressive forms with distant metastases can occur. We report here an uncommon case of bilateral orbital metastasis of FTC. A 70-year-old woman present...
متن کاملSolitary skull metastasis from follicular thyroid carcinoma: a case report
Introduction: Follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) is the second most common malignant form of thyroid cancers. FTC is more common in women with a peak incidence in the fifth and sixth decades of life. Invasion into blood vessels may lead to distant metastasis to bone, lung, liver or elsewhere. FTC rarely manifests itself as a distant metastatic lesion, especially as solitary metastasis. Case r...
متن کاملAdenoid Cystic Carcinoma of the Buccal Mucosa with Rare Delayed Frontal Bone Metastasis: A Case Report
Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is a malignant neoplasm, which accounts for 5-10% of all salivary gland tumors (1). About 50% of these tumors originate from intraoral minor salivary glands usually in the hard palate (1). Three clinically obvious characteristics of AdCC include slow growth rate, perineural invasion and high incidence of distant metastasis (1). The most commonly-affected sites of...
متن کاملUnusual metastasis of papillary thyroid carcinoma to larynx and hypopharynx a case report
BACKGROUND: Although direct infiltration of papillary carcinoma of thyroid to larynx, trachea and esophagus is well recognized, lymphatic and vascular metastases to larynx and hypopharynx have rarely been reported. CASE REPORT: A case of loco-regionally advanced papillary carcinoma of thyroid metastasizing to the hypopharynx and aryepiglottic fold is presented CONCLUSIONS: Papillary thyroid car...
متن کاملAxillary lymph node metastasis in medullary thyroid carcinoma: A case report
Introduction: Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) is an uncommon neoplasm originating from parafollicular C cells. Distant metastasis in MTC, such as axillary node involvement, is extremely rare. Case Report: The present study describes a known case of MTC with axillary lymph node metastasis in a 31-year-old woman. In 2010, she underwent total thyroidectomy and right-sided modified radical neck dis...
